Short History
The Suburban Players is the longest-running English-speaking amateur theatre group in Argentina. Founded in 1963 by a group of expatriates, we have spent more than six decades producing plays in English for the enjoyment of both performers and audiences.
We are a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization committed to high-quality theatre and community engagement. Our productions span drama, comedy, musicals, and classics by playwrights ranging from Shakespeare and Shaw to Chekhov and Pinter, with over 150 shows staged in Buenos Aires and beyond.
Beyond the stage, The Suburban Players is a welcoming social space where English speakers and learners come together. Through theatre, workshops, readings, and social events, we foster creativity, collaboration, and friendship, while supporting charitable and community initiatives through our work.
Our mission is simple:
to create theatre in English that is accessible, inclusive, and rewarding for everyone involved, onstage and off.
